Professional and Community Activities:
William (Bill) Pecsi is the manager of Conveyance and Distribution for Water System Operation at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. In this capacity, he oversees a staff of 265 employees responsible for operating and maintaining MWD’s conveyance and distribution facilities, including the Colorado River Aqueduct and 16 hydroelectric and power plants.
Mr. Pecsi has over 24 years of experience in operations, maintenance, water quality compliance, design and construction of water systems. Previously in his career at MWD he served as Plant Manager for the Joseph Jensen Water Treatment Plant in Granada Hills. Mr. Pecsi also served on the Association of California Water Agencies Finance Committee and on the ACWA’s Region 8 Board of Directors. In 2004, Bill left MWD to become General Manager of Foothill Municipal Water District, a water wholesaler in the La Canada, La Crescenta, Altadena area. He returned to his current position at MWD in April 2007.
He is a registered professional engineer and is a Grade 5 water treatment operator. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Loyola Marymount University. He served as an adjunct faculty member at College of the Canyons instructing water distribution and water works mathematics.
