Professional and Community Activities:
As Assistant General Manager-Water Services of Glendale Water & Power, Peter Kavounas is responsible for planning, engineering, maintenance and operations of the City’s water system, serving over 200,000 residents. Prior to joining Glendale in 2004, he worked for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power for 17 years, where he managed the department’s Eastern Sierra environmental group. Mr. Kavounas served as a volunteer mediator for Los Angeles County’s Voluntary Mediation Services from 1996 until 1999. Mr. Kavounas also served on the Measure K Citizens Oversight Committee of the Newhall School District when the Committee was conceived after successful passage of Measure K in 1999.
In addition to CLWA, Mr. Kavounas is also a member of the Association of California Water Agencies, the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies, and the American Water Works Association
