Professional and Community Activities:
Dean Efstathiou recently retired after 38 years of service with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works. Prior to his retirement he served as the Acting Director of Public Works. He retired as the Chief Deputy for the Department.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Castaic Lake Water Agency, a supplier of imported water from the State Water Project to the Santa Clarita Valley. He is also a member of the Association of California Water Agencies. His work experience included directing the activities of the Los Angeles County Waterworks Districts for 10 years. He has also served as the Public Works representative to the Los Angeles County Regional Planning Commission.
Mr. Efstathiou holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the California State University Los Angeles. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of California and is a member of the American Water Works Association and American Society of Civil Engineers. He is a Board Member of the Southern California Water Committee and the Urban Water Institute. Additionally, he is an active member of his church and his community in Arcadia and served as a Commissioner of the American Youth Soccer Organization and a soccer coach for 18 years.
