Board of Directors

If there’s one thing you can count on when it comes to California’s water supply, it’s change. For example, in 2011 near-record snowpack and rains left reservoirs filled to healthy levels. By early 2012, the state has been in the midst of one of the driest winters on record, with snowpack less than 20 percent of average. That’s just one example of how wildly California’s water supply fluctuates, and at Castaic Lake Water Agency we take pride in making sure the Santa Clarita Valley’s water supply is well-prepared to absorb those fluctuations.

As a result of planning ahead, we have approximately four and a half years’ worth of stored water supplies to protect us against dry years. We continuously pursue new water sources, including recycling, which will become an increasingly important source for irrigation, freeing up other supplies for potable uses. And, we constantly promote efficient use of precious water resources.

Everyone can help, too: by using water efficiently, you contribute to CLWA’s ongoing effort to ensure that the SCV has a safe, reliable supply of water now and in the years to come – the wet ones and the dry ones alike.

Sincerely,

Tom Campbell
CLWA Board President
